Frequently asked questions
-
How do I get involved?
By volunteering with us in the many roles we have available, food or monetary donations, by informing or assisting disadvantaged community members to access our Saturday lunches or CommunityFridges in Frankston.
-
What food donations do you accept?
Fruits and vegetables, sealed dry goods such as rice, pasta, flour, nutritional yeast, vegetable oil, tamari, spices, tinned coconut milk, tinned tomatoes, cous-cous, quinoa, vegan chocolate, tinned beans, chickpeas and lentils.
-
Are you a religious group?
We are not affiliated with any religious or political group.
-
Why do I need a police check?
For legal reasons relating to the organisations we operate from and for our records to be in line with government policies around charity organisations that are working towards becoming a registered charity, we require all volunteers to provide us a current national police check certificate. Having a criminal history does not disqualify you from volunteering but it needs to be disclosed. Please chat to us if you are unsure.
-
What do you do for the community?
We provide free plant-based food to the community via the Community Fridges and our Saturday lunch program.
-
Are you a vegan organisation?
Yes, we do not participate in the exploitation of animals for food, goods or entertainment. We welcome all volunteers; there is no requirement to be vegan to join our organisation but we do ask that you respect our values as well as those of our guests.
